Recently we decided we were not connecting enough with the people of Melville. We could build friendships with those who came through our doors but what of those in the community who didn't come to church? Where could we meet these people and how could we develop relationships with them?

Our solution was a concept we called "Have a Beer for Jesus." We cancelled our Sunday evening meetings and instead of gathering at church, we met at restaurants and bars around Melville.

Having called it "Have a Beer for Jesus" most of our Sunday Evening get-togethers have not generally involved beer, but the name definitely got people's attention.

Since we came up with this concept we have had several regular meetings at venues including the Ant in Melville, The Fishmarket in Melville, Touch Rugby at Wits and Bambanani. Bambanani is the only one running currently - we meet at 4pm on Sundays at Bambanani - 4th Avenue, Melville.
