"Bringing hope to the abandoned and misplaced"

“Stand up for Hope” is a community drive reaching out to the homeless in Melville. We support and work together with many other organisations in the community to empower and uplift destitute people living in the Melville area.

How can you get involved?

Food is prepared every Wednesday afternoon from 15:30 to 16:00 and then, for the following two hours, we take food and hope out to these people. On Fridays we go out to spend time with the guys and really get to know them.
Donations are welcome and can be dropped off at Melville Junction Church,  41 7th Avenue, Melville (corner 7th Ave & 5th St). If you need someone to come and collect donations from you please contact Gareth Moore (+2784 713 5678).

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, we go out to spend time with the guys on Melville's street. We bring soup and bread for the guys. The aim of this is to get to know them and form relationships with them. Please join us! The next one is on Saturday 11 July. Meet at Melville Junction Church at 09.30 and we will all go through together.

OPERATION SPRING CLEAN - Saturday 18 September 2010

We will be having a Spring Clean sale at Melville Junction to raise money for our new programme: “Soccer Life Skills”
It's the end of winter and the perfect time to go through your house to get rid of the things you don't need any more! We will take anything, in good working order, and the money we raise will go towards full soccer kits for the Melville street guys. “Soccer Life Skills” is a programme that will bring hope and direction through the passion of soccer. Through this programme, they will learn about teamwork and family, to hygiene, to slowly weaning many of the street guys off glue, this programme is all for bringing the positivity of soccer into the upliftment of the homeless.

Here are the ways you can help:
1. Help sort, price and sell the jumble
2. Clean out your unwanted things and bring them to Melville Junction Church
3. Come find some bargains
4. Tell your friends

Get hold of Gareth or Tina to drop things off at the Church or to offer help.

There is no pressure to come and spend time with these people, but we know your life will be changed from doing this.

Keep up to date with “Stand Up for Hope” on our Facebook Page or our Blog.

In May we went out to meet up with the guys on Melville's streets to share stories, laughter and our T-shirts. Dave Warby put this video together for us.
