New Testament History - FF Bruce

This seminal work is a great introduction into the world of the New Testament.

Theology for the Community of God - SJ Grenz

If you want to buy a systematic theology book then this is your baby. It is easy to read, well researched and emerges from one of the best minds in theology for a long while (he will be dearly missed). Enjoy - Paul Warby

   Preface to Theology -JH Yoder

If I were trapped on an island with a bunch of first year theology students (just go with me on this one) and I could take only one book (yes, aside from the bible), this would be it. Yoder is an absolute master and in this book you will get a handle on theological method and its nature like no other (apologies to Grenz and Franke who also wrote a great, but not as great, book titled "Beyond Foundations"). Read it, read it again, then once more, and your theology can only get better. What, your still sitting there? Go out now and get it. I command thee thusly - Paul Warby

The Lion Handbook to the Bible

I love this little gem. It's got helpful timelines, concise summaries and historical notes that give you good insights into the biblical world. Another good handbook is Halley's but I prefer this one because it has more pictures and diagrams (I'm more of a visual than a textual personality). - Paul Warby
