Stand up for Hope is born out of a desire to see God's hopes and dreams become real to the homeless and people in need, within Melville and the surrounds. Our aim is to see these people equipped with confidence, skills and the motivation to improve their current situation. In addition to connecting directly with people of the ground, we support and work together with diverse organisations with similar goals. We believe that through empowering people in our community we can help to improve our neighbourhood, city and country.
We are called to: "...share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help and he will say: Here am I..." (Isaiah 58v7-9)
