WHAT YOU CAN DO

Pray, Volunteer or Donate

We believe that prayer is our most powerful tool in bringing God's kingdom and His works down to us. By uniting with us in praying for the people on the street. Check out their profile pictures in the gallery so you can pray into specific things

How can you get involved?

Food is prepared every Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 15:30 to 16:00 and then, for the following two hours, we take food and hope out to the people of Melville. Donations are welcome and can be dropped off at Melville Junction Church,  41 7th Avenue, Melville (corner 7th Ave & 5th St). If you need someone to come and collect donations from you please contact us.

The following would be very welcome:
  • Blankets
  • Clothing from ages 12 upwards (we are in touch with homeless men up to the age of 65) - Please NO torn or broken items.
  • Shoes from sizes 5 - 10 (there is a great need for these but please NO shoes with holes...they already have those!)
  • Personal care parcels: bars of soap, hand cloths, hand towels, vaseline etc.
  • Food that can be used for the feeding days: It must be able to feed around 20 people and put into individual packages. Examples: Rolls & viennas, peanut butter sandwiches, other sandwiches, oranges, apples. (Any luxuries once in a while blesses the kids too.)
  • Your time to come and share with the homeless together with a team of volunteers.

Please note that the items listed above do not have to be new, but need to be in good repair. If you make up a parcel, please label it with the contents, amounts and sizes. You could consider making it a project within a group of your friends (possibly a cell group, a book club, a sports team etc.) to organise parcels together.

  •

Groups and Companies could also get involved in the following ways:
    • Sponsoring a partial or full soccer kit with your branding. This is a great initiative because the guys are very passionate about soccer and this will keep them off the streets a lot more. Team sport gives them a sense of a purpose and belonging.
    • Sponsoring one or more person to get back into schools and safe-houses or to sponsor one specific person in their individual needs and goals.
    • Sponsoring Food
    • Providing Training or Employment Opportunities
    • Or let us know any other ways you would like to be involved
