Age: 64 • A god man and would come off the street if given the opportunity. • Has an opportunity for pension. Needs someone to assist him in collecting it, and then could possible move off the street? • Only eats soft food, because he has no teeth and cannot afford dentures. • Seems to have a more realistic perception of the environment that he is in. • Wishes he had a place to stay with a bed and a shower. He does not like being on the street! His life story is a difficult and sad one. • Doesn’t see very well.

An offer from a dentist to donate some dentures. Time to be given just to listen to and to be treated with respect for someone his age. To get him off the street - this is not right for someone who is at the age of 64 to be on the streets!

• “Father” figure who constantly professes that he’s a Christian and knows the Bible. He is in touch with the reality of the life on the streets, and watches over the kids in the area. • Carries around a juice box with glue in it, but is not always on it. He has the ability to be a strong leader and one that will choose to come off glue if given a reason to. • Lively, entertaining, over-dramatic.

Probably the strongest leader in the area and someone who knows almost everyone on the streets in Melville. He is widely known and respected within the street kids community. He has a heart of gold!
• He has a brother, Andre, who is also on the streets. • Quick to offer help. • Willing to have others invest in him • Enjoys talking about himself and laughing. Great sense of humor. • Has a 34-year-old sister who he isn’t keen to talk about. Claims she was very abusive when he was younger. • Very outgoing, friendly, good sense of humor. Is always aware of how he looks and makes sure he is clean. Takes pride in himself. • Does some work with the local tow-truck drivers who seem to look after him too. He washes the trucks and learns the basics of the engines, cleaning the oil and things along the line. • He wants to become a Diesel Engineer. He has already passed his first stage diploma. Along these lines, he will work for someone in the industry of Diesel Engineering, to be given a chance as an apprentice and learn the trade. This will also allow him to be off the streets, as he does not want to be there.

Age: 50 + From the UK • Constantly talks about his artwork and how there are dealers discussing potential business opportunities with him. •Was in SA during the 70’s-80’s and then left to tour Eastern Europe before returning to SA. •Does odd-end jobs with painting to get money.
He is becoming more and more frustrated being on the streets. He needs to get off the streets sooner than later. He does have clean clothes etc. packed away and looks after himself and Jessica (his dog) very well. He is hungry to work, and struggling with being without work and an identity.

• Has a 12-year-old brother and father who live in West brook, but there is no space to live and it is unsafe for his personal well-being. • He has been on the streets about 6 years. • Dropped out of school last year when he was expelled. (Story uncertain) • A fantastic giver, calm and caring character and loves to listen more than talk. He is one of the more quiet boys and has a very soft natured heart. • He has many goals, but at this point I am helping him finding them and making them concrete.
