Our Values

Our vision is very simply to make radical disciples of Christ. How we go about doing that is guided by our values as a church.

We seek to root everything we do in scripture
As Christians we are a “people of the book” and hold the Bible to be authoritative for everything we do and everything we believe. We are shaped and transformed by the Bible's story.

We desire to be led by the Holy Spirit
Being rooted in scripture and submitted to the lordship of Christ, we desire to be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and expect Him to move supernaturally and sovereignly, even at the expense of our comfort and convenience.

We aim to build authentic relationships
We believe in the friendship that Jesus modelled; friendship where we empower one another to fulfil our destiny in God. We will pursue authentic, honest relationships, both with fellow believers and with the community, which allow each of us to discover and explore God. We will embrace each other unconditionally and carry each other's burdens, even when it costs. We will love each other enough to be vulnerable, speaking the truth in love and growing through conflict. We will pursue friendship before defining function.

We believe all Christians are priests in God's house
We believe the body of Christ will only be built up when each believer plays his or her part. We affirm that every believer, irrespective of age, culture or gender, has the ability, opportunity and responsibility to minister to God and to people, both in the church and in the community. We will encourage and equip believers to minister and create an enabling environment where all can participate in ministry out of their strong relationship with God. In all of this we will be guided by our conviction that, like Jesus, we should look always to serve, rather than be served.

We embrace creative expression
We serve a creative God and believe that each of us is empowered by the Holy Spirit to express ourselves creatively in worship and service. We will celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of Christ's body by creating space for innovation and creativity in our midst.

We are working to build a multicultural, multilingual, multi-class and multigenerational community
We believe that we are called to represent the diversity of God's people within our local community. As such we seek to build a community that embraces the diversity of culture, language, economic class and age that is present in the community around us. We believe that as we embrace our Godly identity we will find community with each other in our communion with Christ.

We believe that the people of God are an apostolic people.
God has tasked the church with taking the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth and so, in response to that commission, we will go both to our neighbours and the nations as bearers of good news.

We are convinced that we have been blessed in order that we might be a blessing.
We will give generously of the resources, gifts, talents and people God has blessed us with in order to be a blessing to our city, our country, the world and the church at large. Our level of generosity is determined by our belief that it is better to give than to receive, and that those who sow generously will also reap generously.
